Dear Dr. Janssen and The Center for Spine & Orthopedics,

How can I begin to thank you for giving me my life back? I endured five months of excruciating non-stop neck pain from one ruptured disk next to another severely herniated disk. I couldn’t hold my neck up. I can now empathize with people in perpetual nerve pain. After three surgeons recommended fusion with its lengthy recovery time and potential for loss of mobility, I was at a low point and felt like giving up. When Dr. Ronald Malpiede recommended Dr.Janssen and the existence of artificial disks, I felt elated and hopeful. It was very encouraging during my initial consultation to see a large poster-sized article of various speedboat champions who were still racing thanks to the artificial disks. Luckily, I was a candidate for both the disks and the operation.

Again, how can I thank you Dr. Janssen, for giving me my active life back? I was grateful for your candor when you told me I might be a candidate for two of the disks or a combination. You skillfully found a way to give me two disks in a row and I am eternally grateful. Did you know thereʼs something about you, a savior faire born from great experience and knowledge, that made me trust you immediately and instinctually?

“Youʼre simply and absolutely the best at what you do. I will be eternally in your debt for giving me my life back. My entire experience at The Center for Spine & Orthopedics was gracious and supportive.”

From the people at the front desk, to the X-ray folks, to Surgical Recovery – everyone without exception was friendly, professional and kind. I must give a special shout-out to Ana Maria for her professionalism and her persistence in never giving up with my insurance company (and her help in organizing the lunch!). Your ability to keep so many balls in the air is truly amazing. Ruth, you are so knowledgeable, capable and patient, and answered my 50 questions in a row as to the things I could or shouldnʼt do with my new neck. We finally decided that taking skydiving off my bucket list was prudent. Your enthusiasm is your wonderful secret power.

And Dr. Big John, Anesthesiologist extraordinaire: you quickly picked up on my trepidations (flat out fears) of general anesthesia. Your calming voice, clearly explaining and demystifying the process to my husband and I, served with a side of delicious coffee, was exactly what I needed. Iʼm grateful that you were there on the day of my operation to oversee the anesthesia. You are a perceptive and kind man. Please forgive me if Iʼve missed anyone inadvertently and I hope you enjoy the lunch. Iʼm honored to be able to make this small gesture of thanks and gratitude to everyone who took such good care of me when I was in so much pain. Thank you all for a great experience with The Center for Spine and Orthopedics.

Best,

Daria Castiglione Denver, CO
